Q:I have a question about the Atlas Essential America insurance. My father-in-law wants to buy this insurance. He has gallstones, and is aged 66. I'm wondering if he has acute cholecystitis, will medical expenses be covered?

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. In general, insurance will pay for any new sickness, injuries or accidents that may occur after the effective date of the policy. It will not pay for any routine maintenance for pre-existing or preventive care. However, both Atlas America and Patriot America Plus plan provides coverage for an acute onset of pre-existing conditions. Nobody can confirm in advance his conditions will be covered or not. It will be determined by the claim dept. based on the attending physician notes and as per the policy certificate whether it fall into an acute onset of pre-existing conditions or not. Please review the above information and feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

Q:I am looking for temporary health insurance for immigrants in the US. Currently, I am in the process of emigrating from Germany to the US. Could you please suggest a health insurance plan, which is appropriate for my situation? Here is a short summary my situation: - German citizen with last place of residence in Germany - Now living in the U.S. - Arrived in the U.S. on May 28th with ESTA/Visa Waiver program - Currently still a tourist in the US until August 25th - Married to a US citizen since August 10th - Starting August 26th, open-ended stay in the US (marriage-based Greencard application with Change of Status to Immigrant Status -> not a permanent resident of the U.S. yet and still have a Non-Immigrant Status) - No further journeys back to Germany planed in the future - It is going to take about 8-12 months to receive my US work permit - Hence cannot work in the US for the next 8-12 months - Going to switch to a US health insurance in about 8-12 months (once I am allowed to start working) - Need a temporary health insurance for the US for about 8-12 months until immigration process (Greencard, work permit, etc.) is done Could you please confirm which health insurance policy is eligible for me and my situation?

A:
Here is a link to a couple of plans that would work. The Safe Travels USA Comprehensive is available until you are approved for the Green card. The International Major Medical is available even after the Green card is approved but has limits on how long it can be purchased for. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.

Q:I am 65 years old woman, very healthy. I arrived in the United States on a K-1 visa and after filing an application I-485 for Adjustment of Status will have pending immigration status. Am I eligible for The Bridge Plan Insurance? 2. In Bridge Plan Brochure it is written - "Utilizing the PPO network ... does not guarantee that benefits will be payable or that the Provider will bill us directly". But who will pay for my treatment in, for example, Beth Israel Hospital or Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, if according to The Bridge Plan it covers by the policy? Thank you for your help and consideration.

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. Yes. You will be eligible for bridge plan because you have filed an adjustment of status. That's just a disclaimer. Most of the time if you go in the PPO network provider billed directly. For Dr. visit you may need to pay upfront. But for hospitalization or major expense hospital sends bill directly. We have been selling this insurance for last 15yrs. PPO network has been added very recently. But even when there was no network for major expense hospital used to send bill directly. If you go in the ppo network there will be network negotiated rate that is the advantage of PPO network. Bridge plan. You can also look for International Major medical plan. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

I'm a bit confused with the plans you provide and need some guidance. Can I enroll my dependents on one of your plans while I maintain my current plan?

A:
We do have plans that can cover F2 visa holders while the F1 has their own individual policy. You can enter in your information through our quote screen for our F1/F2 visa plans and it will provide you with all plans available to you to choose from.
