Q:Hello, Planning to get insurance for my dad visiting. He is 80 and is diabetic (type 2) Waiting for visa now. Question is, is there anything you need from my dad's side? Thanks

A:
As a broker, We provide insurance from many companies. Essentially all the plans fall in to two categories. Fixed and comprehensive. Fixed plan cost less and provide limited coverage while comprehensive plan is very similar to our domestic short term plan. Insurance will pay for any new sickness, injuries or accidents that may occur after the eff. date of the policy. It does not cover any pre-existing or preventive care. However, Some plan provides coverage for an Acute Onset of Pre-existing Conditions. Insurance plans that will be suitable for your father will be Safe Travels USA Comprehensive plan or Safe Travels Visitors to USA fixed coverage plan. Both plan provides coverage for acute onset of pre-ex but has specific exclusion for cardiac disease and conditions. But it will provide coverage for new sickness, injuries or accidents up to $50k. Please use the links to review the plans. You can also compare these plans at our website. We don't need any medical information from your father. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

Q:Can she not get a long term plan through your company because she had a Patriot plan after arriving in the US?

A:
Certain plans have requirements for enrollment and the particular plan that you are interested in the Patriot Travel series is not available to her for coverage. In short, the Patriot Travel plans are not long term plans they are short term plans that are available for coverage under certain circumstances. If you were to purchase this plan for coverage for your daughter in law and filed a claim the claims department would deny her claim as she was not eligible for this plan at the time of purchase. A long-term plan would be like an employer insurance or and individual policy though United Health care or Blue Cross Blue Shield etc... These plans are available to permanent residents as soon as they receive a social security numbers in the United States. The only other option for her to be eligible for coverage under a long-term plan would be if her spouse had employer insurance that she would be eligible to enroll into. If you have any other questions please feel free to contact us.
