Q:visiting parent has catheter My father from India who is 73 is keen on visiting us in california . He has an indwelling urinary catheter as he lost his bladder control after a spinal surgery 2 years ago. what kind of medical insurance should i buy? Is it better to buy in the u.s or India? will monthly catheter changes ?(reqd to avoid infections)be covered under insurance?

A:
It is definitely better to buy the insurance from U.S. Please read /visitors-insurance-usa-india-comparison/ to understand the difference between buying from US vs India. Unfortunately, there is no plan available in the market that would cover her physiotherapy session as it would be considered as pre-exisiting conditions. All the plans are designed to cover any new medical conditions. Even though there are some plans available that may cover up to some small extent in some very limited and unforeseen circumstances, it would not cover your father's condition as it is already known in advance that you need it. You can read more at /visitor-medical-insurance-pre-existing-conditions/ There are two types of insurance plans: Fixed: Limited, cheaper Comprehensive: Better, more expensive More details at /visitors-insurance/ If you would like to buy fixed coverage plan, look at Visitors Care, at /visitors-care-insurance/ If you would like to comprehensive, the choices are based on whether you would like $50,000 or $100,000 coverage. For $50,000, look at Patriot America at /patriot-america-lite-insurance/ For $100,000, look at Patriot Platinum America at /patriot-america-platinum-insurance/ We always recommend everyone to buy comprehensive coverage plan. You will get all the details about each plan in the links above, you can also compare them side by side at https://www.insubuy.com and make instant purchase online. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Q:Respond if you have filed claims with IMG plans Hello, Id like to hear from anyone who has actually filed a claim with IMG plans for Visitor coverage and whether the outcome was satisfying. Thanks a lot.

A:
I completely understand you specifically asked that I should not respond to this. (By the way, I don't write anything inaccurate, anyway). However, as no one has responded in a couple of days, let me clarify something. Unlike other web sites such as immigration etc. where people routinely hang out because their greeen card processing takes many years and they are constantly looking for useful information, for example, most people come to this web site when they are looking for information to buy the insurance, or they bought some insurance (either the ones we sell or the ones we don't) and had some negative experience and want to write about it or looking for some help. It is not normal for many people to routinely hang out on this discussion forum. Most people look for information, buy something and go away. And most of those people either don't end up filing the claim or don't experience any problem. As a consumer, I myself would not hang out on Aetna's or Blue Cross Blue Shield's web sites and post positive experiences every time some one in my family happened to go to the doctor. That is because most consumers simply don't care. That is a fact of the life. I hope you understand what I am trying to explain. And I really hope that more and more people provide their feedback as that is the only way even for us to know about various plans and various companies experiences. Unfortunately, the positive ones are rarely posted.

Q:Advice needed on insurance choice Hello Are there any insurance plans that would cover a potential sudden onset of a condition such as Cellulitis that may have occurred in the past. If the condition reoccurrs, would it be treated as a pre-existing condition or a new instance ? Could you please provide some suggestions ? Thank you

A:
Unfortunately, no such plans exist. Unfortunately, no such plans exist. Hi found this link. /atlas-america/acute-onset-pre-existing-conditions-coverage/ Would'nt this be helpful for the suggested scenario ? Thank you No, because Atlas America excludes skin conditions, even if it is new medical condition. Look at /atlas-america/visitor-medical-insurance/ What is Excluded? 15. Disease of the skin And please note that even for other diseases, it is only meant for acute onset of pre-existing conditions, something that happens all of sudden and is life threatening. I am not sure whether there would be anything life threatening in skin conditions.

Q:Question about Diplomat+Trip Elite Combo for 80+ year old I am trying to get comprehensive insurance for my fatherinlaw who has just turned 80, and will be visiting USA at the end of march for 2.5 months. When I called your office, I was advised to get him the combination of Diplomat Insurance and Patriot Trip Elite. Having read all the information, I am trying figure out how this combination is supposed to work exactly. For us, the diplomat came to about 1200$ and the Patriot Trip Elite came to just 63$. I assume the patriot thing is meant to be a supplement for the first month because Diplomat only covers upto 1000$ for sicknesses in the first month. However, I am not able to figure out how the Trip ELITE is supposed to helpfrom its description, it seems to me to be only for travel interruption. Could you please clarify (By the way, I did buy the insurance for both my inlaws through your web site). thanks from Arizona

A:
You were provided correct advice. Patriot TRIP Elite is trip cancellation insurance. However, it also provides $50,000 in medical expenses. And it only provides that for first 30 days of the coverage. It must be purchased before departure from home country. You can put the trip cost as $0 (it will take it as minimum $500 internally) while actually applying. Therefore, it can be used to supplement Diplomat plan for first 30 days which only covers up to $1,000 for sicknesses within first 30 days. I hope that answers your questions. Thanks for the clarification. I have one other question--for "supplementing" Diplomat during the first month, would it make more sense to use one of the fixed benefit insurances (like inbound USA) for just the first month? I notice that this option would cost about 130$--compared to the 63$ for Trip ELITE (an increase that I wouldn't mind considering the 1000$ we are paying for Diplomat--*if* it has advantages over Trip ELITE). regards arizonan ps: by the way, I found these forums and your responses to be most useful information on the web in regards to the visitor insurance. 1. No, it would not make any sense, because with Patriot TRIP Elite, you are paying less and getting more benefits, no deductible, no coinsurance. On the other hand, Inbound USA is a fixed coverage plan. 2. Let me clarify Diplomat America benefits. During first 30 days, it covers up to $1,000 for sicknesses. That means, it pays $1,000 and NOT you. In other words, it has only $1,000 policy max for sicknesses within first 30 days of the effective date. 3. Thank you for the kind words. I really appreciate it. We, as a broker, work for you and are here to help you at any time. Please feel free to contact us at any time if you have any other questions.

Q:visitor medical insurance 1. My parents are in india. Visiting to USA next month , for 6 weeks. They also stay enroute at London one week before coming here and 3weeks after they leave USA on their way to india. could you suggest good comprehensive insurance plan for them? 2. I believe I have to get international including USA ,canada. Correct ? 3. I now most of the insurances won't cover preexisting condition. Any insurance covering preexisting conditions? 4. Also please comment about repatriation of remains. Most insurance policies states that ' if the covered illness /injury results in death, remains repatriation would be covered' What does it mean? So if death happens as a result of preexisting condition, the remains repatriation expenses would not be covered ? any alternate options/suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.

A:
1. Look at Patriot America at /patriot-america-lite-insurance/ 2. Yes. 3. Pre-existing conditions are generally not covered. There are some plans that cover acute onset of pre-existing conditions, in limited circumstances, up to a very limited amount. Please look at /pre-existing-conditions-coverage-visitors-health-insurance/ for more details. 4. That means that if the person dies from a covered medical illness/accident, the insurance company will pay for sending the body back home. If the person dies from a pre-existing condition, the insurance company will NOT pay for sending the body back home.
