Q:I'm English and moved to NY about 8 years ago, my mom would like to come for a visit to see me and her grandchildren. The trouble is, she has a number of pre-existing conditions and is on a few medications, one of which is a prescribed controlled substance. Do you have a sales department that could reach out to me to get a quote for travel insurance for her? We would want her covered in the event of anything happening at all, and maybe the ability to refill a prescription should she not have enough when she is over. She is 57 and a UK citizen. Her planned trip is May of 2018 for 4-6 weeks, depending on how much of her medicine she can bring with her, or if she can refill a script here. If you don't have a sales department that would produce a quote for me, do you have any ideas of who I would contact next? I want to try and have some news to her on budgets and such as soon as we can so we can save and plan accordingly.

A:
We offer insurance from many companies. Insurance for an international visitor covers any new sickness injuries or accidents that may occur after the effective date of the policy. Insurance will not pay for any pre-existing, preventive care or any routine maintenance for the pre-existing conditions. However, we have many plans which provides coverage for an Acute Onset of Pre-existing Conditions. Please go to the link to find more information on acute onset of pre-ex. If you provide her travel date and what policy maximum are you looking for will be glad to send you quote by e-mail. Meantime, please visit our website and enter appropriate criteria. You will find many plans and you can also compare them side by side. Please feel free to contact us if you need any further clarification.

Q:I've attached a photo of what I was thinking of purchasing (Patriot America Plus). I will be under a TN visa, my wife and child under a TD visa. I need coverage in WA state and for Nov 16 to Nov 21. We are all Canadian, however right now we live in Germany.

A:
Yes, the Patriot America Plus plan will be an appropriate plan on a short term basis until your employer insurance starts. You would enter the date you want the coverage to end as the "return date". Please feel free to contact our office if you need additional assistance.

Q:Hello, I need to better understand this coverage. Can you send me additional information via Email? I'm looking for medical insurance for a family member with a visiting Visa who may need medical attention. Thank you in advance.

A:
The plans will cover a new illness or injury that occurs after the effective date. There is no plan available that will cover an existing condition. So if your visitor is already needing medical attention then there is no plan available that will cover it. For any current medical condition you would need to pay out of pocket. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.

Q:I'm going to be graduating from UC in December and won't be eligible for the student health insurance. I'm 28 years old, green card holder with Brazilian citizenship, self-employed musician and need to find a good health insurance for myself. Could you please help me?

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. Unfortunately, we don't have a long term domestic plan that we can offer at this time. Since open enrollment starts 11/1/17 you can check with your state department of insurance to discuss your options. If you need a short term plan until a long term plan starts you can look at the International Major Medical plan that is offered in the new immigrant section of our website. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact our office.
