Q:I am a British Citizen who has lived in Japan for the last five years. Currently, I have a working visa therefore, I have Japanese medical cover however, from the 27th March 2017, I shall be resigning from my job. I shall then change my visa to a 'short-term stay' visa (i.e. a tourist visa) and spend the next two or three weeks doing some last-minute sightseeing before flying back to the UK on the 14th April 2017. Naturally, my Japanese medical cover will expire when I change my visa to a tourist visa therefore, I need medical cover between the 27th March 2017 until the 14th April 2017. I went onto 'insuremytrip.com' and I found 'HCC medical insurance Atlas International' insurance policy and I wondered if that would cover me? My only concern is that I am not beginning, and ending my trip, within the same country (I've found that a lot of UK travel insurance companies need their customers to begin and end their trip within the UK). Could you please confirm that this policy will indeed cover me for any medical expenses I need between the dates of the 27th March and until the 14th April. If not, could you please let me know of a policy which would cover me. Finally, could you please let me know which address I should put on the policy. Currently, I live in Japan however, when this policy takes effect, I shall have moved out of my apartment in Japan and my 'living address' will change to my UK home address.

A:
As a broker, We provide insurance from many companies. Each company has different definition of home country. Under Atlas international plan you are living in Japan for 5yrs so your home country is Japan. So I would not suggest Atlas International plan. We have another plan is called Patriot America in that plan your country of citizenship will be your home country. So you are eligible to purchase that plan. For the address you can enter the address wherever you wants us to mail the card. I would suggest to enter your Japan address but depends when you purchase the insurance.

Q:My parents have been issued their US immigrant visa and are planning to now travel to Loris in SC from England. They are 80 (my father) and 77. I am looking on their behalf into heath cover options. They have pre existing conditions: my father: TIA in 2012 with no recurrence since, type 2 diabetes (not insulin treated) and high blood pressure (two medications). my mother: as above but without the TIA. Are you able to offer coverage and if so, costs and details of coverage. Please reply to me copied to the two emails addresses copied in above. I am happy to call you if that helps. Travel date is by 12 January 2017 so there is some urgency please not necessarily to arrange cover (they will have travel insurance for a few months) but they would want to know before they travel that affordable good coverage health cover will be available once they return to the US to take up full time residence later this year.

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. Most of the plan that we offer to new immigrant for age 70+ covers only for new sickness, injuries or accident that may occur after the effective date of the policy. It will not cover any pre-existing or preventive care. In some state Obama Care plan available for age 65+ also. You can call them and ask for it. If your state does not allow Obama care plan at your parents age then you have to purchase insurance from outside market ( like from us) and none of those plan will cover any pre-existing conditions. Please find new immigrant plan here. Need to get separate quote for your father and mother. You can call our office at (866)INSUBUY and licensed agent will be able to help you.

Q:As J1 holder I am going to buy health insurance using Atlas Exchange but I found that this plan has a country restriction which is applicable to me. My home country is Iran. As indicated in this plan there is no coverage for applicants whose home country is Iran. I wonder whether this means that I am not allowed to buy my insurance using ATLAS exchange. Is there any other option for me to use this plan? I would be thankful if you guide me.

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. Atlas Exchange has country restriction for Iran. You can purchase Patriot Exchange plan which is very similar to Atlas Exchange, it meets standard J1 visa requirements and there is no country restriction for Iran. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

Q:I am from University of Illinois. Earlier I (including my family members) had a health insurance plan with your company till 31 July 2016. Fortunately from August 2016 I got eligibility to get university insurance plan and hence I shifted from your company. However very recently I noticed that the University insurance policy does not cover medical evacuation and repatriation. In this connection I like to purchase a separate policy from your company which covered $50,000 for medical evacuation and $25,000 for repatriation. Could you please let me know am I able to purchase this type of policy or not. If so, how much I have to pay. I solicit your help in this regard.

A:
Please see our stand alone medical evacuation and repatriation plan. If based on the state you reside in or age if you find you are not eligible for this plan you can carry one of our lower cost fixed plans that can include those benefits as well. /visitors-insurance/ Please let us know if you have any questions or need any additional assistance.

Q:Will any one of your plan covers for Child birth in USA? I have Indian Passport and have a permanent UK Visa. I also have B1/B2 visa to USA

A:
There are no plans on the market that will cover any cost related to maternity. Any maternity related expenses (birth, delivery, routine visit, sonograms etc.) will be at your own expense as there is no plan that will cover any related expenses for a visitor. Please review the Pregnancy / Maternity Coverage FAQ for a visitor in the United States.

Q:After a year and a half in the US, my J-1 visa program is ending on February 1. So my wife, son and myself are fully covered until that day. But we'll be leaving the country a few days later and I'd like to be covered for a few more days just in case. Is this a service you can offer?

A:
In which state do you need coverage? If you are not physically located in NY, MD and WA. You can purchase Atlas America plan. Otherwise, Please let us know what in of insurance you had when you were on J1 visa. Eligibility depends on what kind of insurance you had in past. You can purchase any of the plans from our Visitor section. Some plans says need prior international insurance required so that we can advised only once we received e-mail from you.
