Q:My fiancee and I are getting ready to travel to the US for a month after a year of traveling around Europe. We are 27 (female, USA) and 30 (male, UK). We will get married on July 14 and since we have birthdays in the middle of July also, we have a few questions regarding the form for health insurance during our stay in America. We don't have an actual place of residence, but will be moving to Cairo, Egypt to live and work in early August. What should be put as our country of residence on the form since we have been hopping around to different countries in Eastern Europe and don't have a home base. We are also concerned with the fact that we will both turn one year older during our trip to America and our marital status will change during this time. What are we supposed to put on the form? Please help us with this as soon as possible as our trip to America begins July 1 and ends August 2.

A:
Answer for your questions below: 1. You need to separate application for you and your fiancee because of different Citizenship. 2. You can enter your current address whichever address you are living now or your fiancee's UK address. 3. In the insurance application you have to enter your current age at the time of effective date of the policy and premium will not change in the middle of the policy. If you need to renew the policy then only premium will increase. You can purchase Safe Travel USA Cost saver. Please get separate quote for you and your fiancee.

Q:My name is Binghui, and I have bought the insurance through the Insubuy, the ID number is A####(Atlas America). I want to change my insurance, because I have been told that this plan will not meet the preexisting requirement as it excludes them see below: "Acute Onset of Pre-existing Condition (excludes chronic and congenital conditions) (only available to members under age 70)" In order to meet the UCSB's Health Insurance Requirements, my plan cannot exclude any preexisting conditions or state acute onset. I want to know whether I can change the insurance, or I only need to purchase additional coverage.

A:
You are correct, this plan will not meet a pre-existing condition requirement. Please send a request to cancel at insubuy.com to cancel this plan. Forward your requirements as a PDF to info@insubuy.com and we can see if there is a plan that we can recommend. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.

Q:What does the California Notice mean??

A:
That message is for US residents. If you were coming to the US to live (not visit) and were going to be working in the US and filing taxes then you would be required to have a plan that does meet the ACA requirements. As long as you are visiting the US then this doesn't apply to you. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact our office. More information
