Q:Question about medical insurance for parents (new green card holders) I like your site and am evaluating different options for insurance for my parents who just got their green cards. Couple of questions to help me narrow down (a) If they are going to be in the US for 6 monthsyear, is it advisable to buy insurance for those 6 months or for the entire 12 month period (b) If the latter, does insurance cover stays in India (c) Can we keep renewing insurance in perpetuity What happens after 3 years Thanks

A:
You can either buy 6 months insurance or you can buy annual insurance. If you buy 6 months, it would have to be a new policy every time. Look at the products under /new-immigrant-insurance/. In those products, buying and paying is one and same thing. If you buy for 6 months, you pay for 6 months upfront. Alternatively, some products allow you to purchase for shorter duration and then you renew it. You can also purchase the insurance that would cover year round and both in US and in India. Look at the products at /expatriate-health-insurance/ They allow you to pay monthly even if you buy for 1 year at a time. You can continue to renew the insurance as long as you are eligible for it. And you are eligible for it as long as you are not eligible for domestic insurance. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

A:
That would be considered as pre-existing condition and not covered. Hi, I want to take Patriot America Insurance (Comprehensive) for my Mother-In-Law. She is 47 years old and she has Asthma. You siad it will be considered as pre-existing condition. Can u suggest what is the best plan we can take for her. She will be coming in Novemeber and staying for 6 months here. Unfortunately, there is no product from any company that will cover the pre-existing conditions for visitors to US. Read /visitor-medical-insurance-pre-existing-conditions/

Q:Incidental home country coverage so I'm confused by incidental trips. My plan is to go to India, Bhutan, Nepal, Tibet Jordan, Israel, Oman and United arab emirates from Jan 10 to Apil 11th, then come backto the states regroup and fly to south east asia for an additional 4 months can I jut get coverage for this whole time and consider my time at home an incidental trip and therefor have it covered by insurance? Also the 30 day after trip coverage will this act like health insurance for me in the states so I have a couple of weeks to buy US insurance for myself? Also if I'm flown home does the travel insurance cover the whole illness flown home for? I am currently on self bought independent insurance and do not want to carry it while traveling.

A:
We offer several products from different companies and they work little differently in each of them: e.g., for Atlas International, available at /atlas-international-insurance/, following are the definitions: Incidental Home Country Coverage For every 3 months of coverage purchased, Atlas International provides US citizens up to 15 days of incidental coverage for trips to your Home Country. Incidental visit time must be used within the three-month period earned, and the member must continue his or her international trip in order to be eligible for this benefit, which covers Medical expenses only. Return to your Home Country must not be taken for the purpose of obtaining treatment of an Illness or Injury that began while traveling. End of Trip Home Country Medical Coverage If you are covered under Atlas International and outside of your Home Country continuously (except for covered Incidental Trips as described above) for six (6) months or more you may purchase an additional 30 days of End of Trip Home Country Medical Coverage. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Hi, I read the definitions online before asking my question. I guess I feel they are too vague as most insurance definitions tend to be. >>> They are not vague. They precisely indicate what they are trying to convey. So specificly: Does it matter that I go back to my home country and then leave again for a totally different part of the world? >>>> No. If I were to be hit by a bus in my home country or while on end of trip coverage what happens? Will I be covered for this full injury all hospitalization even past the expiration of the policy? >>> As long as your you have incidental or end of trip home country coverage, as described below, you will be covered according to the schedule of benefits in the policy. What if I get cancer or something like that during this year is this covered? Am I flown home and all treatment provided? >>> No. Thanks,

Q:Patriot America for parents' visitors insurance I plan to buy health insurance for my parents both below 69 for more than 3 months. Looking Patriot, Atlas and WorldMed for about 500K. In terms of customer service and reputation for paying out, which one is better? BTW I do not see Patriot mentioned on other insurance sites, except yours. Is that from you guys? Any concerns because of that?

A:
I am not sure which other web sites you are referring to. However, Patriot America is from IMG and that is the largest of all visitors medical insurance companies. And Patriot America is sold by more agents than any other product. Around 100,000 agents sell Patriot America. Moreover, we as a broker, sell insurance products from many companies and have wide selection of products. And please note that we are the largest broker in the country for visitors medical insurance. Because of that reason, we sometimes have access to the products or services that no other broker will have. It is possible some agents are not able to sell some products because they might have been terminated because of whatever reasons. You can purchase any of the above products online at https://www.insubuy.com Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Q:Protection America or Atlas America Hello, I need to purchase travel medical insurance for my parents traveling to the US for 2 months. There ages are 62 and 56 respectively. I am looking at renewable plans for $1,000,000 with 80/20 co-insurance (upto $5000) and $1000 deductible. It seems that Protection America and Atlas America both fit the bill (both have providers in my area). However, Protection America is somewhat more expensive. Are there any reasons to choose Protection America over Atlas? Which policy would you recommend? Thanks, Prashant

A:
Different insurance companies set their prices based on variety of factors such as volume of business, past claims experiences, their general expenses and many other factors. There is always not a straight forward reason why one product would be little bit more expensive than the other. (If you notice, Atlas is more expensive for 65+ compared to Protection America, while cheaper for ages below 60). You can buy either Protection America or Atlas America. Both are excellent products, available at our web site https://www.insubuy.com You can one additional feature in Protection America: Rx Discount Card. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you for the quick response :) I will go with Atlas America. BTW, I did speak with you yesterday and you had recommended that for Protection America, I buy separate policies for my mother and father. Does the same apply for Atlas? In Atlas America, that does not matter as they give separate certificate numbers for each person either way.

Patriot America is a good visitors insurance. If you take $50,000 policy maximum with $250 deducitble, it will cost $120/month.
