Q:I am 71 years old and came to the USA on a B1 visa on 7th Feb. My return ticket was 30th April but couldn't travel back to India because of pandemic. My new booking is for 5th Feb 2021. Before travelling to the US, I had taken the insurance from an Indian provider that I kept extending. This operator offers insurance for a maximum of 360 days. Can I buy the insurance for the remaining 4 days from a local US operator?

A:
This is fine as long as the individual has maintained their active visitor visa. You may purchase for 4 days, but most plans have a minimum purchase duration of 5. Keep in mind the plans are designed to cover the new things that manifest after their effective date. They will exclude coverage for pre-existing conditions, preventative and routine care. So should something be going on before the policy begins, it will not be covered under the plan. Please call our office if you have further questions. Our phone number is +1 (866) 467-8289.

A:
This type of coverage would be under a Cancel for Any Reason benefit in a Trip Insurance plan. Unfortunately, such benefit would not be available for non-US residents. Should you have additional questions please let us know. You may also call our office at +1 (866) 467-8289.
