Q:I want to purchase the Safe Travels USA Cost Saver insurance from 3/5/20 to 5/1/20. I entered the US from China on (1/14/20), which is prior to the coronavirus outbreak in China. My question is, will this insurance policy cover my medical cost if I catch coronavirus in the US during the insured period? Thanks!

A:
The Coronavirus exclusion is based on the destination (host) country and impacts members who travel to destinations (host countries) after travel warnings have been issued. Individuals traveling to the US or other countries where travel warnings have not been issued are not impacted by the exclusion. This is a rapidly evolving situation. Make sure to confirm the most current information before making any decisions.

Q:I am attempting to find health care coverage for my mother-in-law from March to July 2020. Is an appointment for establishment of care covered by any of your plans?

A:
I am not sure what you mean by establishment of care. However, if your mother is traveling on a B2 visitor visa, I can advise of the following: All plans on the market for visitors cover for new illnesses and new injuries that occur or manifest after the effective date. They do not cover things that are preventative, routine, or pre-existing. Some plans do include Acute Onset benefits of pre-existing conditions. Therefore, if by established you mean treatment for a known issue, that would not be covered under any of the plans. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Q:I would like to get information regarding insurance for my 22 year old daughter who graduated from AMDA in NY beginning of February 2020 and is currently living in Manhattan. She just received her Optional Practical Training for F-1 students and is now seeking to get medical insurance for the next 12 months. Would love to hear from you regarding her options.

A:
Because your daughter is in New York, the plan options will be limited. The plans that we would recommend would be one of the 4 below: - Patriot America - Patriot America Plus - Safe Travels USA Comprehensive - Safe Travels USA Cost Saver You can run quotes through these links as well. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
