Q:My family and I are American citizens who reside in London, UK. We have tickets to travel back to NY this summer to visit family for 5 weeks in mid-July. We usually purchase travel insurance to cover our medical needs while we are there. We are looking for a plan to cover coronavirus should we contract it and need treatment while we are there. I am not sure this is even possible but would be interested in learning about any and all options.

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. You can purchase Diplomat America plan. In this plan there is no restriction for Coronavirus as of today. It will be covered as any other sickness as long as you are not infected before the effective date of the policy. Q:My university does not give specific requirements on health insurance related to coronavirus. But I want to have a insurance that can cover the potential costs of coronavirus in the future. Generally I want to continue a health insurance similar to my current ExchangeGuard plan but with some way that it can cover the potential costs of coronavirus in the future. I try on the insubuy website but it shows no insurance is available to F VISA now. Please let me know which one is the right one I should buy. I want to cover F2 (my wife and a 5 yeas kid) only. I am mandatory covered by the university. Therefore I think there is no requirements that my university has in general for F2 coverage.

A:
There is no specific exclusion for Coronavirus on the Safe Travels Series plans . It will be covered as any other sickness. It should not be related to any pre-existing or preventive care. Trawick International Plans Please read Coronavirus FAQ for Travel medical insurance

Q:I am 68 years old Australian Citizen. I have been in the USA since July 1st 2019 entering legally with a tourist visa. I am married to a USA citizen. We applied for change of status concurrently with my green card application through marriage so as to remain in the USA with my husband. I did the biometrics in Febuary. Approx estimate for response for interview from Lawfully...is 1.485 (Petition) prediction Feb 28th - 27th June 2020. 1.130 adjustement of status prediction between August 19th -December 17th 2020. I want to take a medical insurance that will cover me adequately. I have no idea what kind of hospital cover I should be looking at as Aistralia has health care for all, so this is completely alien medical cover to me. Since the covid.19 I had assumed everyone in the US would be protected for a test and treatment if you contracted the covid.19. If you could clarify some of this for me I would very much appreciate it. Also once I have had my greencard approved can I then access and enrol in domestic private medical plans ?

A:
We would be more than happy to assist you in finding the proper coverage. For your situation the options are going to be more limited, due to you adjusting your status. If your green card has not been approved yet you may purchase the Safe Travels USA Comprehensive plan. These plans are meant to cover new injuries and illnesses that manifest after the effective date of the policy. They will not cover any type of pre-existing conditions, preventative and routine care. The reason we are suggesting the Safe Travels USA Comprehensive is because under a majority of the plans there are exclusions activated that prevent coverage for COVID-19, but this plan has no exclusion that would effect that coverage. You can find out more information on the plan here. We also recommend you read over the COVID-19 FAQs on our website which include more information on the coverage available. Please understand that this Safe Travels plan will only be able to grant you coverage until your Green Card is approved. Once your Greed Card is approved you will have to switch to another plan under our New Immigrant section of the website. The plans located in this section will still cover for new illness and injuries, but they will not have coverage for COVID-19. You may have these plans until you become eligible for Domestic Insurance and once you are eligible you will need to switch to one of those plans as these plans will no longer be eligible for you. Please let us know if you have additional questions.
