Q:I am looking for health insurance including in transit for my parents who are visiting between March 15 and April 16 (both days including) to USA from India. My parents are aged 76 and 71. Can you recommend me the best plans for health insurance considering their age and that provides max coverage.

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. We provide insurance from many companies. Essentially all the plans fall into two categories. Fixed and comprehensive plan. Insurance for an international visitor will cover for any new sickness, injuries or accidents that may occur after the effective date of the policy. Insurance will not pay for any pre-existing or preventive care. However we have some plan which covers an acute onset of pre-ex for age 70+ also. Please find more information on acute onset of pre-ex here. Your parents are coming here for very short duration so it's advisable to go for comprehensive plan. You can go for Safe Travels USA Comprehensive plan which covers an acute onset of pre-ex for age 70+ also. Please find more information about this plan here. Meantime, please visit our website to view the plans. Please enter appropriate criteria. You will find many plans and you can also compare them side by side. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

Q:I am hoping to purchase health insurance for my parents who just arrived to New York from India. I wanted to know two specific questions. Do the plans offered by your company include providers and hospitals in Augusta, GA (are they "in-network")? Do they have to purchase the policy before entering Georgia?

A:
If a hospital is in network or not will depend on the plan you choose. You can run a provider search under any of the plans that offer a network. It is not required to purchase the insurance before entering GA. The plans will cover any new illness or injury that occur after the effective date of the plan. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office

Q:I am interested in purchasing travel insurance for my family. If my spouse is a Russian citizen, and my child and I are US Citizens, can she be added on the insurance under spouse?

A:
You would purchase separate plans. You and your child on one plan and your wife on another.

Q:I am a US citizen who has been residing in Germany for the last 2 1/2 years. I am now returning to the US to work on my Master's Thesis and visit family for the next approx. 6 months. After this time, I intend to return to Germany for work. I currently hold a valid German residency permit, but I have moved out of my apartment for the duration of my trip to the US. For this reason, I am unsure what address to use for the insurance application, as entering a US address does not seem to be possible.

A:
Before, we suggest any plan would like to know which state do you need coverage? If you purchase International plan you must provide your home country address that is (German address). Short term Domestic plan: National General STM International plan as long as your home country is outside US: Diplomat America Please review the plan details and feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

Q:I am on a B1 visa and want to purchase the Safe Travels for Visitors to USA insurance, but am already located in the US. I arrived a couple weeks ago. Can I still purchase the plan?

A:
Based on the information you provided you are eligible for that plan. Just so you know that plan is a fixed coverage plan and is very basic. If anything happens then the majority of the cost will come from your pocket since the plan pays a fixed dollar amount. More information about a fixed coverage plan you can look here. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact our office.
