Q:Hello, I am a visitor to the US and want to buy the Atlas Travel Insurance. My query is will a visit to a gynecologist be covered and in case some medication is prescribed, will the insurance pay for it? Please let me know if there is a particular type of plan that covers the above. Thank you.

A:
The policies are designed to cover the new accidents and new illness that occur after the effective date of the policy. The plans will not cover any pre-existing conditions or any preventative care. If there is currently anything going on before the start of the policy it will be excluded from the policy . Please review the Atlas America plan using the link.

Q:Dear Sir or Madam, I am looking for Travel Medical Insurance plan for my parent (age 59 and 54 yrs) who will come to the USA on next weekend for three months. They are healthy, but, I know the USA health care system. Also, you have recommended on the website for the comprehensive plan. Therefore, I will buy a comprehensive plan. Now, my question is which is the better plan between Patriot America Plus or Atlas America. I have seen that both similar but from the different company. So, there must be some differences. Thank you for your time and attention.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. Atlas America and Patriot America plus are very similar plans. You can compare the plans side by side by clicking the small button to the left of the plan name and clicking on compare or choosing the fast compare tab. A couple of the differences would be that the Atlas America plan has a $50 urgent care copay and Patriot America does not. If you need additional information please feel free to contact our office.

Q:My husband is a post-doc in UCLA. I just arrived in U.S for one week, holding J2 visa. I am planning to buy a J2 insurance but the J2 insurance must to meet the following requirement. UCLAs requirements for minimum levels of health insurance coverage are: $100,000 USD per accident & illness in medical coverage Deductible cannot exceed $500 per accident or illness Coinsurance cannot exceed 25% Medical evacuation coverage must be at least $50,000 USD Repatriation coverage must be at least $25,000 USD Pre-existing conditions must be a covered benefit. The waiting period for benefit coverage cannot exceed 12 months. Pre-existing conditions must also have a $100,000 per illness medical coverage. Please note: Policy with coverage for only Acute onset of pre-existing conditions do not meet this requirement. Carrier must be at least A- rated or backed by the full faith and credit of the Exchange Visitors government Can you recommend me any insurance that met this requirements?

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. The only way for a J2 to meet the requirements listed below is to be on a plan with the J1. Is your husband offered a plan by UCLA? Are you eligible to be added to his plan? You can also contact our office to speak with a licensed insurance agent for assistance.

Q:My daughter and I live in China and will be going back to the US for an extended stay of 13 months. Leaving 7/24/2017 and returning approx 8/22/2018. We would live a health insurance plan that will cover us during our stay. It looks like the diplomat america is the only plan and it cannot be renewed after the first year. What are your suggestions? We are both US citizens.

A:
Unfortunately, as a U.S. citizen you cannot purchase a visitor's insurance plan. You are by law required to have a plan that is ACA compliant for the year and one month that you will reside back in the United States. As you are considered as coming home and within the United States U.S. citizenship will take precedence. It is recommended that you look into domestic insurance options to avoid being penalized for not having a compliant plan. If you would provide the state in which you will be visiting we can see if we have any domestic insurance options available for you.

Q:I would like to receive a price quote for our 18 employees. They will be flying from the USA to Israel and then to Greece. The insurance should also cover winter sports and activities (such as ski/snowboard, etc.) and their laptops. The dates are: Feb. 5th till Feb. 9th 2017. We have Americans employees and also foreign employees that work and live in the US. All of our foreign employees have a working visa in the US, they have health insurance and a residential address. I just want to make sure that our foreign employees are eligible for your travel insurance as well as the Americans employees.

A:
We have a plan called Atlas Group Insurance that will cover your employees while traveling. This plan does include coverage for the winter sports as mentioned but will not cover their laptops. There is a benefit for lost luggage but that would not cover damage if that is what you are looking for. The medical plans do not generally cover personal property. Since we do not have the ages or other required details of the employees we would not be able to provide a quote but the quote can be obtained through the link below. If you would like for us to calculate the cost then please provide the ages, citizenships, and state for the employees. If you need additional assistance please feel free to contact our office.
