Q:I am traveling outside of the USA starting in February. I will be in Central and South America for approximately 5-6 months doing volunteer work and some recreational activities. I am looking for health insurance coverage that could potentially cover me outside of the country but also if I returned to the states, if I could also get coverage in Washington. In addition, would insurance coverage airlifting back to the states if needed? Thank you.

A:
Please be advised that we do not have any plans available that can cover you both in the U.S. as well as internationally. I have attached the quote link below for the plans that we offer, that can cover you while traveling abroad. /travel-health-insurance/ If you have any additional questions, or need any additional assistance, please let us know.

Q:I am looking for Insurance coverage for my mother who is 65 years old, has USA green card, is ineligible for Medicare (since she has only been in USA for less than 5 years). She lives in the USA for 6-7 months and in India for 5-6 months of the year and pays taxes in both places. She lives in WA when she is in the USA. I talked to a rep on the phone the other day and they suggested "International major medical" coverage for her. I want to sign her up for it but was unclear how they define home country. Can you confirm that she will be covered in the USA if we get this policy?

A:
The International Major Medical plan bases its eligibility on the country of citizenship of the insured. As long as they are not a U.S. citizen, they are eligible to purchase this plan. Please keep in mind the plan is not ACA compliant, and will only cover new illnesses, injuries or accidents which occur after the effective date of the policy.

Q:I am writing to say that I am an international PhD candidate and recently have been offered admission in Western Sydney Univeristy. As you may be aware, I am supposed to arrange my OSHC policy before entering Australia. In this respect, I have questions. First, in my offer, the commencement date of my course is stated 25 Feb 2019; however, due to the visa process, it may occur delays. Thus, I am not sure when I should fix as the start date of my policy. Second, there is a difference between cost of policy for 49 months in your website and that in University website. Is there any difference, for example, regarding the items you cover? Third, if there is any problem for instance visa cancelling making me never enter Australia, would the cost of policy be refunded?

A:
We would be glad to assist. As far as the start date, you will have to determine what date to use, however, once a policy is active, we cannot adjust the start date after that. So if you choose for example Feb 25th, and then do not end up needing coverage to begin until for example March 17th, you would still be covered from the 25th of Feb. You can send us the University's requirements so that we may review them. They can be sent as well to info at insubuy.com. If you have a particular plan already chosen, please advise what plan you are referring to. We would have to verify which policy, in order to answer any questions about benefits, pricing, or cancellation guidelines, as these things are plan specific. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
