Q:How does emergency dental coverage and deductible work for my plan? Do I need prior approval before going to a dentist?

A:
Your plan offers a $300 benefit towards the treatment of acute and unexpected pain to natural, sound teeth. This benefit is subject to the deductible as any other accident or illness would be. Please see Dental Coverage in Visitors Insurance to learn more. There are no pre-certification requirements that need to be met for this type of treatment, however it is always recommended to reach out to your insurance company if anything is going on. This is so they can assist you with making sure there is nothing additional you need to do, and that number can be found on the back of your ID card. If you have any additional questions please let us know.

Q:Visitor Insurance for a parent. If the parent decides to go back to home country earlier than the duration of the insurance do we get a refund?

A:
Refund rules will vary by plan. Generally speaking, yes, most plans will offer a pro-rated refund for the remaining number of days, after a cancellation fee of either $25 or $50, as long as there are no claims on file. You can view the "Refundable" hyperlink underneath each plan to see that plans specific rules. If you have and addition questions please let us know.

Q:I am planning to take my parents to US. What insurance should I take? They have exiting health issues. But comprehensive plans are too expensive. Is it worth it? Can I just go with standard insurance?

A:
A comprehensive plan does not automatically cover pre-existing conditions. In fact, Visitors Protect is the only plan that offers coverage for pre-existing conditions, but it still cannot be known or expected treatment. It also has a 90 day minimum purchase and $1500 deductible built into the plan for anything relating to a pre-existing condition. Additionally, it must be purchased before the insured has left their home country. Other comprehensive plans do offer the Acute onset of pre-existing conditions. If you would like to learn more about the acute onset of pre-existing conditions please click the hyperlink. Fixed Coverage plans are very limited in benefits and will only pay a fixed amount per a schedule of benefits, and you may view those in the "plan benefits" section of each plan. If anything were to happen, the majority of the cost would come out of the patients pocket. While yes, comprehensive plans are a bit more expensive, they will offer much more coverage than any fixed plan will. A popular plan for ages under 70 is Patriot America Plus. If you have any additional questions please let us know.
