Q:I have purchased trip insurance through your representative three or four times. I was recently on your website to purchase insurance for a trip in October 2018, but that date is not permitted. I paid my deposit last week and typically purchase the coverage with the additional option of cancel for any reason. Is it not possible to purchase this insurance for a trip so many months in advance?

A:
I would recommend that you take a look at the Travel LX plan that would allow you to purchase with your departure date being so far beyond the effective date of the policy. This plan will include cancel for any reason coverage as well. Please use the link for more information about this plan and to generate a quote for coverage. If you have any questions about this plan please do not hesitate to contact our office.

Q:I am going to France with some friends to hike and go caving with a British cave club. They require we have insurance coverage to include rescue up to 5 million euro. This type of medical/rescue/travel insurance they all have (from snowcard in the uk) seems to be a bit different than what US insurers offer. Do you have a plant to cover hiking/caving for the 5 million euro they require? Does it cover costs associated with a potential rescue (the French Government conducts all rescues and thus requires everyone have the insurance)? If not, can a custom policy be written?

A:
We have a plan that will offer a higher policy max called Patriot Platinum. If you add the adventure sports rider then the plan will include coverage for caving and will also offer emergency medical evacuation up to the policy max. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact our office.

Q:Dear Team My wife is the recipient of the Fullbright scholarship for the PhD program and will be attending the UGA session commencing from August 2017. My son who is going to be 14 in July this year, would be accompanying her throughout the program which is for 4 years. I understand for a J2 visa, medical insurance is mandatory. The conditions are as following: (1) Medical coverage of at least $50,000 per person per accident or illness; (2) repatriation of remains in the amount of $7,500; and (3) medical evacuation benefits of at least $10,000. Kindly chalk out a suitable plan for one year (renewable each year) for providing my son Ahmad Hyat the medical insurance fulfilling the aforementioned criteria.

A:
We have many plans that meets standard J2 visa requirements. As the requirements changed in 2015 the U.S. department of State requires that you purchase a minimum policy of $100K in order meet their requirements on a J visa. Please check with her sponsoring organization to make sure that $50K is sufficient considering the new U.S. department of state requirements. Meanwhile you can review Atlas Exchange plan. You can compare Atlas Exchange plan with our other J1/J2 plans at J1 Visa Health Insurance section in our website. Please feel free to contact us if you need any further clarification. We can also send you quote if you provide one information like which state do you need coverage for him.

Q:Dear all, I would like to know if you have a health insurance plan (meeting the J-1 health requirements and the ACA compliant insurance) that I can buy for less than 3 months (1 month).

A:
The J1/J2 insurance that we offer thru our website are short term plans that provide coverage for new injuries and illnesses that should occur after the effective date of the policy and usually meets most school requirements, but are not ACA compliant plans. These plans will provide temporary coverage until your school offers you ACA compliant insurance . If having an ACA compliant plan is required by your school, than you will need to purchase insurance through your sponsoring organization. If you have further questions please let us know.
