Q:I am a US citizen and I'm planning to do some long term traveling throughout Europe. I'm also a EU citizen, but my husband is not. Currently we are on a US insurance plan through COBRA and our eligibility for the plan will expire in June. We'll probably be traveling to Europe in August so we need a plan that covers us while we're in the US but also while we're traveling. We'll also sometimes travel back to the US to visit family. I'm not sure where to start with my research and what type of insurance is relevant to this situation. I'm also not sure what are the main things I should look for in a travel insurance plan.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. The insurance plans available are designed to cover you anywhere outside of your home country. It would be recommended to purchase a domestic insurance plan for your stay in the US and to have coverage for your return. We do offer insurance for Travel Outside of the USA which you can purchase and extend as needed until your trip ends and you return to the United States. Should you have additional questions you may also call our office at +1 (866) 467-8289.

Q:if i buy the insurance now for costa rica and my policy does not go into effect until 09/01/2021 and for some reason we end up not going do we get our money back.? Also we have the policy for 180 days what happens if we stay a couple days longer ?

A:
The Safe Travel Voyager plan for travel to Costa Rica is available for maximum of 180 days so there would be no additional coverage on the plan once that duration has been exhausted. The plan is only refundable for 10 days after purchase. After that time period the premium is considered earned.
