Q:Health insurance for former resident returning after 30 year absence Hello everyone, I have searched the Internet and can't find an answers to the following problem. I used to be a permanent resident in the U.S. and left approx 30 years ago to live in my home country. Due to the long absence my GC had expired. My son has dual citizenship and we would like to return to the U.S. I would apply for a new green card and my son would now sign an Affidavit of support for me. Returning to the U.S. for me would only make sense if I can be sure I will be able to obtain insurance coverage. I will be 65 next year, have worked in the U.S. and receive SS from there. I do not quite fulfil the mandatory 40 quarters to receive Medicare, unfortunately I only fulfilled 35 quarters. Would I be able to buy into the Medicare program Plan A and subsequent other available plans? How much would this cost me? Also, by now I havesome health issues (one of them a chronic disease). Could this in itself be a reason to be declined medical coverage by Medicare? I would greatly appreciate it if you help me find the answers I need

A:
You can purchase the Bridge Plan. It is meant for the people who are waiting for Medicare eligibility. /bridge-plan-insurance/ It will not cover any pre-existing conditions. Please read /new-immigrants-medical-insurance-plans/ It will give you good idea of the options you have (actually you don't have.) If you have any further questions about Medicare, I request you to contact the Social Security Administration at ssa.gov Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Q:Insurance Benefits question I have few questions about F2 (F1 student dependent) health insurance. Currently I am working in Detroit and me & my wife have UMR comprehensive health insurance. I would be joining a university for further studies and will opt their insurance (my university pays for my insurance - PacificSource). I wanted to find out health insurance options for my wife who is on F2 dependent visa. If she gets visitors insurance, then would it be possible to avail benefits like gynecologist visits, ultrasonic exams, mammography, etc. The reason I am asking this is - recently she had breast biopsy and was advised by a doctor to undergo routine ultrasonic exams (mammographs, if needed) every 6 months or so. My current insurance covered all these services including out-patient breast biopsy. So I am wondering if any particular insurance would be covering these services too? I would appreciate your advise in this regards. Thanks.

A:
There is no visitors insurance that would cover any of that. Thanks for your email. Could you please let me know what things will be covered? I thought if gynecologist visit would come under category of visiting a doctor and ultrasonic would be something similar to having x-rays. Isn't it the case? I would still like to go ahead and buy this insurance depending on what minimum things are covered. Could you plz let me know? Thanks again for your help.... regards Pre-existing conditions or preventive check ups are not covered. You can look at various plans available at https://www.insubuy.com You will find the complete details in each product’s brochure. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Q:Travel insurance for Japan Does the end day include the last day of international coverage?

A:
That depends upon the insurance plan you purchase. Could you please let me know whether you have already purchased the insurance or you are planning to purchase? What is the name of the insurance plan? What I need is a plan that covers me while I am in Japan, I'll be staying with my son on a US military base from Oct 27-Nov 5, leaving on the 5th in the evening. The base requirement for me is to have evacuation coverage from Japan to USA and also emergency medical care. They suggest $100,000 minimum coverage. I just found out I need this and I am leaving on Oct 27th so I also need immediate proof of coverage once it is purchased. Can you tell me if any of your plans cover all of this? Thank you for your help, You can purchase either Atlas International or Liaison Continent, listed at /atlas-international-insurance/ /safe-travels-usa-comprehensive-insurance/ In either of these two plans, you will have coverage till the last date you mention. Therefore, if you need coverage from Oct 27 to Nov 5, those are the dates you will specify. Please note that no insurance plans guarantees evacuation from Japan to USA. The emergency medical evacuation is always to the nearest place where adequate care can be given. However, hundreds of people who are visiting their relative (son etc.) at the US military base in Japan have already purchased the above plans from us and they are acceptable to them. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Q:Atlas Comprehensive Insurance I am trying to purchase insurance for my in-laws who are 69 yrs and 59 yrs old. I can't seem to purchase a policy with greater than $50K max on your site, while I could do that at ***.com. Could you please let me know why that is the case? Regards,

A:
You can do it on our web site as well. You need to select the policy max from the home page. Or just go back back to page 1 of atlas application and change it. We have the completely integrated application while others don't have. If you are still having problems, please let me know. We can guide you over the phone or do it on phone on your behalf.

Q:Travel Insurance Recommendation - For UK I found your contact information on the INSUBUY site while looking for a suitable visitors insurance policy for my parents. I found your answers very informative so wanted to reach out to you about a suitable insurance policy for visiting UK. Here are the particulars: Country of residence = India Age = 82 and 72 Single Trip Duration from July 24 - Sept 25 (2 months) I was going through the INSUBUY forum and found a lot of complains about ICICI LOMBARD and ALLIANCE BAJAJ. I was looking for a UK based /International company that offers visitors insurance for senior travelers. I have been researching on the internet but looks like all the UK insurance companies need UK residency. Also finding insurance for 80+ is very limited. I would really appreciate if you could help me find a suitable company /plan either from India, UK, or International. Thanks in advance for your time. Best regards,

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing travel insurance for your parents. I have sent you two separate quotes by two separate emails, one for your father and another for your mother. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at any time. Thank you for sending the quotes. I had a question. The WorldMed quote that you sent (for my father) has a premium of $ 1000 + This is not affordable for us. However, the defined benefits plan for my mother (Visitor's Care) does seem to have a plan for seniors 80+ but caps the benefits at $ 10,000. This may be a more reasonable option for me though the benefits are a lot less. Have I understood this correctly? Please advise. Yes, you have.
