Q:My mother is 52 and in India, and last month she got issues related to menopause and she got extensive bleeding. But when she referred hospital, it stopped by medication and doctor mentioned and everything looks good and this might be related to menopause. She is planning to travel to USA for 5 months. What if get bleeding issues again? will that be considered as pre existing condition? Which insurance you will advise me to take?

A:
Visitors insurance will generally pay for new medical conditions, injuries or a accident that did not exist before the effective date of the policy. The presence of pre-existing conditions would be determined based on medical reports at the time of incident. The Visitors Protect Insurance plan is the only plan that will cover pre-existing conditions but must be purchased before arriving in the USA. We also recommend having a Physician letter stating the insured is fit to fly prior to arriving in the USA.

Q:Why can I not get a quote for coverage for a family member who is 71 years old to travel to Mexico. Is there an age limit for all of your travel plans?

A:
You may purchase Travel Medical Insurance for an insured age 71 to travel to Mexico. The highest policy maximum available for someone in their 70's is $100,000. If you are still having trouble obtaining a quote, we recommend contacting our office at +1 (866) INSUBUY 467-8289 and speaking with a licensed agent.

Q:Does the Comprehensive Policy cover cancellation for medical problems encountered before departure?

A:
We have two different types of plans, Travel Medical plans and Trip Insurance plans. If you are referring to trip cancellation to cover non refundable trip expenses for covered reasons like unexpected medical issues, you would want to be looking at the Trip Insurance plans. The term comprehensive is usually used with Travel Medical plans which do not provide the above type of benefits. Trip Insurance plans can be found here: /travel-insurance/ If you have any additional questions, please let us know.

Q:Are the premiums quoted per day or for the whole trip? It's strange to see a 50 premium for a 11 day trip to Europe. Please confirm.

A:
The premium is calculated as a daily rate, which is based on your age, policy maximum, and deductible selected. The total premium is your daily rate multiplied by the number of days you are traveling. Since you are traveling for only 11 days, the premium you are seeing while generating a quote is the total time period. If you have any additional questions or need further clarification on how premiums are calculated in Schengen Visa Insurance, please let us know.

Q:Hi, I'm planning to bring my parents to California, United States for 4 months. My father is 70 years old and looking to buy some travel insurance. I have a few questions on pre-existing and acute onset preexisting condition and wanted to know whether these fall under those types.1. My father had an incident (slipped and hit on the back of the head) couple of years (Apr 2020) before. He was hospitalized and suffered a minor internal hemorrhage at that time. But he was treated and now recovered completely. 2. He also has experiencing discomfort during bowel movement and taking medicine like stool softener. Also consulted with doctor and performed endoscopy. Results looked good. Doctor said the digestion and bowel movement slows due to his age. Occasionally he may also suffer hemorrhoids due to this bowel movement issue.

A:
We have a plan that can provide some coverage for pre-existing conditions. /visitors-protect-insurance/ It must be purchased before departure from home country and can provide coverage in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Acute onset benefits are more limited as they cover a specific type of incident. Nothing to do with hemorrhoids and the digestion and bowel problems would fall under an acute onset most likely. Any coverage would depend on what is stated in the attending physicians report at the time of an incident to see if it were to meet the acute onset definition. Please see our FAQ page regarding acute onset benefits: /visitor-insurance-acute-onset-of-pre-existing-conditions/ If you are wanting a plan with only the acute onset benefits rather than the more general pre-existing condition coverage, we would recommend this plan: /atlasamerica-insurance/ If you have any additional questions, please let us know.
