Q:Is Liaison Contigent the only option for pre-existing conditions above 55 years? Hello I am looking to purchase comprehensive plan (since the fixed coverage ones do not provide any pre existing condition coverage). My mother is 67 years old. As far as I see, starting May 1 2012 Atlas America is not a viable option for anyone over 55 years since it most likely will not cover pre-existing even thought they claim so) So is Liaision Contigent the only option? How good is this insurance? I have not seen many reviews for it thanks

A:
There are two options: Liaison Continent: Up to $25,000 in acute onset of pre-ex for below 70 years /safe-travels-usa-comprehensive-insurance/ Liaison International: Up to $15,000 in acute onset of pre-ex for below 70 years /patriot-america-plus-insurance/ Both are excellent plans. Liaison Continent is from Lloyds, the same underwriter as Atlas America. If you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time. I had the exact question and it has been answered well. Thanks. I do see that Liasion International offers a policy max of $50,000 for ages of 60/65+ while Liasion Continent has even $100,000. That is the notable difference. My other question is - is the policy max on a plan comprehensive adjustable between two insured? For example, if I take an insurance for my father and mother together choosing a plan that offers policy max of $50,000, does it mean my father will then have a policy max of $50,000 and my mother will separately have a policy max of $50,000. Is that correct? If correct, then is the policy max flexible - will it pay if there is an expense of $60,000 for one insured and adjust the $10,000 excess with the other insured on the same plan? If this is not a general rule, is there any plan that specifically offers this convenience? Policy maximum is per person, irrespective of whether you purchase the insurance seprately for two people or combined. Deductible, out of pocket maximum and the price is also per person. If you buy $50,000/person, it is not a combined limit of $100,000 that any one person can utilize. Each person will have maximum $50,000 to use. If you are worried that the expenses may go beyond $50,000 (which, in reality, may very well happen), you should buy $100,000 or higher policy maximum per person. No plan offers the combined limit that can be used from one person to another. Anyway, we always recommend separate policies for each person, simply so that you have the flexibility to renew or cancel for one person if needed. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at any time or call our office. Per your advice, I bought two separate Liasion Continent - Plan A nsurance for my father and mother (each $100,000) through your website. Thanks for all your help and guidance. My father is 80 years old and he has high blood cholesterol issue. He never had a heart attack. No high blood pressure or diabetes. I want to buy an insurance that will cover any emergency heart attack/stroke etc. Can anyone please suggest any plans? My mother is 68 years old and have high blood pressure. I see this one: Liaison Continent: Up to $25,000 in acute onset of pre-ex for below 70 years /safe-travels-usa-comprehensive-insurance/ might be a good fit for her. Any other recommendation would help too. 1. Father. At that age, it is very difficult to find the insurance even for new medical conditions and only few plans are available. Please look at the plans at https://www.insubuy.com They will not cover any pre-existing conditions nor acute onset of pre-existing conditions, but something that may occur after the effective date of the policy. Whether heart attack/stroke will be considered pre-existing condition or new conditions can't be said in advance, as it would be determined by the claims department based on the treatment and physician report. 2. Liaison Continent is certainly a good plan. You can additionally consider purchasing Atlas America for her, available at /atlasamerica-insurance/ The benefits have changed again since August 1, 2012 where the acute onset of pre-existing conditions is covered up to $50,000 for people under the age of 70 years. If you have any other questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time.

Q:Medical Insurance for visistors from Ontario, Canada My in laws (66 and 67 years old) will be visiting us in IL. They will stay with us for 6 months every year. They are covered by Ontario Health Insurance Plan when they are physically in Canada. That being said, we are only 2 hours away by flight if any non-urgent medical condition occurs while they are in US. I just want to find a medical insurance to cover any urgent issues (for example, stroke, falls from stairs...). It sounds like the comprehensive plan is a bit overkill but the fixed rate plan might not cover anything at all, if I understand it correctly. Please help me choose an insurance plan that not only fits our need but also makes sense cost wise. Thanks,

A:
Fixed coverage plans pay fixed amounts for each procedure which may be a small fraction of the actual expenses. Therefore, we always recommend everyone to buy one the comprehensive coverage plans. You may choose a higher deductible in order to reduce the premiums. You can find several such plans on this web site. If you have any other questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time.

Q:Pre-existing conditions definition Bit confused ab the pre-existing condition category!! Suppose someone didnt had any medical examination since an year and apparently is sound and healthy. He/she may still be suffering from some acute illness which could not yet be traced by previous medical examinations or symptoms or could have been affected only in recent year after the test. Do such illness be also declared pre-existing?

A:
Yes. Exclusion is for pre-existing conditions and not for pre-known or pre-diagnosed or pre-treated conditions. The only comprehensive policy that's popular and seems to cover preexisting acute is Atlas. Is there any other policy that you recommend? Yes. Exclusion is for pre-existing conditions and not for pre-known or pre-diagnosed or pre-treated conditions. For acute onset of pre-existing conditions coverage in Atlas America, please make sure to read /atlas-america/acute-onset-pre-existing-conditions-coverage/ Other products that cover acute onset of pre-existing conditions or in any other manner are listed at /pre-existing-conditions-coverage-visitors-health-insurance/ Thanks for the timely info. I dont think Atlas is suitable for my parents then. I am looking for liaisoncontinentB or liaison International. Amazingly most people on forum recommended Atlas whenever there were dangers of stroke pre-existing conditions. Is this a new clause? For acute onset of pre-existing conditions coverage in Atlas America, please make sure to read /atlas-america/acute-onset-pre-existing-conditions-coverage/ Other products that cover acute onset of pre-existing conditions or in any other manner are listed at /pre-existing-conditions-coverage-visitors-health-insurance/ Yes, it is a new clause, effective May 1, 2012.

A:

Please look at https://www.insubuy.com and you will find various comprehensive coverage plans. If you have any other questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time. Q:Atlas America Hi, I am planning to buy the Atlas America and would appreciate if anyone of you could clarify the below doubts 1. How much coverage is generally required for parents visiting USA. 2. Does it covers the medical emergencies during the flight journey time too thanks Sathish

A:
1. As the healthcare costs are very high in the U.S., you should buy as much as you possibly can. 2. It will cover during the travel time also provided the insurance is effective during that time. Insurance is effective at 12.01 AM Eastern on the day you specifiy. Keeping the time zone difference in mind between the US and India, you may want to consider putting the effective date one day in advance of the travel date. I hope this answers your questions. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time. Thanks a lot for a quick and prompt response but I have a doubt for your below response. 1. Keeping the time zone difference in mind between the US and India, you may want to consider putting the effective date one day in advance of the travel date. My parents start date from India is 4/16/2012, but atlas america is not allowing me to put the insurance effective date before 4/16/12. In such case, can I put travel date as 4/15/2012 so that I can purchase insurance from a day ahead of travel date. Thanks Sathish Yes, that is how you should do it. Thanks for that. I have purchases the ATLAS AMERICA at INSUBUY. When can I expect the package with all the documents to be delivered home. Also, I took it for a month and will renew it each month. Hope I can do so with the ATLAS AMERCIA 1. You should the emaill confirmation immediately after purchase. You can also download all the documents online at any time at /myaccount/ Insurance papers by regular mail are mailed to you on the next business day and should arrive in few days within the U.S. 2. Yes, you can certainly extend the insurance before it expires. You simply visit /myaccount/ and do it online. Alternatively, you can also call us at any time and we can extend it over the phone. I hope that answers all your questions. If you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time. Hello, I am trying to renew the Atlas America policy. But, I just found that rather than renewing if I take a new Atlas America policy effective from the termination of the existing policy I'll be saving $72.00 for 2 people. Please let me know why this much of difference. Thanks Sathish You should definitely renew, rather than purchasing a new policy, because of at least the following reasons: 1. If the person has already developed some condition during the previous policy period (whether he knows about it or not), it will be considered as pre-existing condition and not covered in the new policy. However, if the policy is extended, it would be covered in the new duration as long as it would have been covered in the previous duration, provided there is no gap in coverage dates. 2. Effective May 1, 2012, acute onset of pre-existing conditions is effectively restricted to people under the age of 55 years. If you renew/extend, it would still be under 70 years. I hope that answers your questions. If you have any other questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time. Hello, Thanks a lot for answering my queries. But, I would rather prefer to purchase new policy (for $240.00/two persons) and then keep renewing each month for the next 4 months, instead of renew/extending the existing policy (for $312.00/two persons), because no NEW health condition will develop in a month's time until and unless it is an bodily injury/accident. If suppose I extend the current policy after a bodily injury/accident which took place during the current policy period will this incident be covered?? Please let me know if I am wrong with my understanding. Thanks kvvsm 1. You never know what would happen (or what has already happened). But is finally up to you. If you would like to buy the new one, you can do so at /atlasamerica-insurance/ If you would like to extend the current one, you can do so at /myaccount/ 2. As long as it was covered in the previous policy period and you extend before it expires (that is, no gap in coverage and no repurchase), it would be covered after you extend the insurance. I hope that answers your questions. If you have any other questions, please feel free to post them here or contact us at any time.
