Q:Is it allowable to buy the insurance today and then go to see doctors tomorrow? Parents come to Houston, Texas and stay for months.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. Visitors insurance plans are designed to provide coverage for new illnesses, injuries or accidents which occur after the effective date of the policy. The plans will not provide coverage for pre-existing conditions, routine doctors' visits, or preventative treatments such as immunizations. If the insured is currently needing medical treatment, and the plan is purchased to be used for that medical situation the plan would not provide coverage. Since the situation would have manifested prior to the effective date of the policy, it would be considered a pre-existing condition. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Q:I have a relative from India visiting me in new jersey, USA. He has Tata AIG insurance to the coverage of $150,000. I don't know the details of his policies, but I worry that his policy might be a fixed policy. He has had a heart surgery several years back and I am also not sure about the pre-existing clause etc. I am very familiar with Atlas America and know how it works based on my personal experience. Can I purchase Atlas America for the duration of stay of my relative with me even though he has Tata AIG insurance cover? Please advise.

A:
Thank you for your interest in purchasing insurance through us. Atlas America plan provides coverage for an acute onset of pre-existing conditions. Please review the plan details, certificate wording and feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

Q:From your website, I found Visitor Care and VisitorSecure are covering the pre-existing conditions, right? If my parents have heart disease, or kidney disease already, then some illness related to these will be covered by Visitor Care and VisitorSecure, right?

A:
We would be glad to advise. There is not a visitor plan on the market that will cover pre-existing conditions. What it states is acute onset of pre-existing conditions. Also, be advised that both the Visitor Secure, as well as the Visitors Care plans are both Fixed coverage, limited benefit plans and pay based on the plan's schedule of benefits. You will want to be sure and look at the Schedule of benefits link to see what the plan will pay per incident for each category of coverage. If you have additional questions, please let us know.

Q:I am from the Philippines and going to visit my brother who is in the U.S. Navy and currently deployed at a U.S. Air Facility in Japan. What they require is an International - Japan Medical Insurance with a coverage of $100,000. I think it should state something like "Emergency/Medical Insurance" Do you have a plan that will satisfy my needs/

A:
We are familiar with the Japanese military base requirements, so I am sending you links for 2 recommended plans. The plan names are Atlas International and Patriot International. They both include the medical evacuation and repatriation benefits. You will be able to run quotes through the links for each plan. You will just want to choose the $100,000 policy maximum option. If you have any questions or need any additional assistance, please let us know.

Q:I recently spoke with someone on the phone regarding for coverage for women who are currently pregnant. According to the representative, the policy would only be valid if the woman got pregnant while the policy was active. The policy would NOT be valid if the woman was pregnant prior (I believe in insurance vernacular that's a "pre-existing condition") to purchase of the policy. I read that "visit USA insurance" and "atlas insurance" offer travelers insurance for women pregnant. In short, I'm double checking if I can get a valid policy from either of these, altas or visit USA (are these subsidiaries of insbuy?) for my pregnant wife.

A:
Thank you for contacting Insubuy for your insurance needs. The Atlas America, and Visit USA Healthcare plans offer a benefit for the complications of pregnancy that occur during the first 26 weeks of pregnancy. Conception can occur either before or after the effective date of the policy. Please use the link provided below to view the plan certificate wording to learn more about this benefit under both plans. Atlas America certificate wording, complications of pregnancy is mentioned on page 28. Visit USA certificate wording, complications of pregnancy is mentioned on page 21.
