Q:I want to buy a new insurance policy for my In laws who are traveling to USA to visit us from Nov/15/2017 to 01/May/2018. i checked the policy online and got a Quote for Silver $75,000 with $100 deductible. Please try to get quote for either $50k or $100K. If you select $75K there are only couple of plans available and none of the comprehensive plan provides coverage for $75K. Answer for your questions below: 1. Insurance for an international visitor does not cover any pre-existing or preventive care. However some plans provides the coverage for an acute onset of pre-ex. Insurance will not pay for any routine maintenance for pre-ex. However, some plan provide coverage for an acute onset of pre-ex. 3. Some insurance plan participate in the PPO network. So if you go in the PPO network there will be some contracted rates. Hospitalization or major expense hospital sends bill directly to claim dept. For dr. visit some time you need to pay upfront then file claim for reimbursement. Please read overview of International Health Insurance Claims process. 4. Insurance will pay for whatever medicine necessary as long as it's not preventive or pre-ex medicine. Depends on which insurance plan you select. Q:I'm f-1 visa holder and currently on opt it started on 07/20/2017 and my health insurance stopped on 08/24/2017 so I don't have health insurance since then. I started working at a small company from 08/01/2017 and have ssn so i have income and taxes all that stuff. But the company does not offer health insurance and I didnt aware I will still need to get one till now. I know it has passed 60 days already so does that mean I will probably get fined?
