There is a plan called Collegiate Care Exclusive that will offer coverage Intercollegiate sports. There is another plan called Study USA Platinum that will also cover Intercollegiate sports but it cannot be purchase until after he departs the country of Australia as there is a geographic restriction on being located in the country of Australia at the time of application. Q:I'm in the US here on OPT currently and need insurance for some months till employment. I would like to get insurance for getting help with mental health issues through a therapist/psychological service. Now, while several of the plans are good for me, I am not sure if these are considered pre-existing conditions or not and whether the costs for them would be covered or not.

A:
Plans that are available that will cover mental and nervous disorders will have a waiting period of any where from 6 -12 months before coverage would be applicable for any pre-existing conditions.

Q:Does trip insurance cancellation cover the full cost of a trip given that the insure purchased for himself and his significant other? Also his significant other is not traveling on same airline, as she will be traveling from a different country?

A:
The plans are going to be specific to the country of residence, so the plans that are available to U.S. resident would not be available to a non u.s. resident. The plans would have to be purchased separately. The Trip Cancellation insurance plans will cover for any eligible reason for cancellation listed in the certificate up to 100%.

Q:Hi, I learned from your website that pre-existing conditions are not covered. However, I learned that under the Affordable Care Act, health insurance companies can't refuse to cover you or charge you more just because you have a "pre-existing condition" - that is, a health problem you had before the date that new health coverage starts. So is the law still applicable?

A:
The Affordable Care Act is applicable to U.S. residents and citizens that are enrolled or looking to be enrolled into domestic insurance plans that are considered to be PPACA compliant. The plans on the Insubuy website are not PPACA compliant and are considered to be short term plans that are exempt from ACA rules.
